Louisiana Youth Rugby Grows & Looks for Coaches

Louisiana Rugby Community,

After a great fall season, Louisiana Rugby is seeking coaches for our youth and middle school rugby programs this spring!

The fall season showcased 5 after-school youth rugby programs, all of which will be continuing into spring (details at bottom of email). Depending on coaching recruitment, we would like to establish several more youth programs throughout Louisiana. In addition to youth rugby, spring will bring with it our 2nd annual middle school rugby season! Building on the success of last year, middle school rugby will compete in rugby 7s and 10s progressing from touch/flag to tackle throughout the season.

Youth programs run after-school, Monday-Friday, between 3:00-5:30p.m. Middle school teams will meet after-school or at night (6:00p.m. or later). There are locations across New Orleans and teams forming in Baton Rouge and Houma. If interested in coaching, please reply back to Frank Palumbo, Youth Development Officer, with what day(s) of the week you are free and available to coach. Coaches will earn a stipend of $20 per practice ($30 for a 2hr practice) and $10 for Saturday morning games in City Park. All equipment and materials will be provided.

I urge all of you to think about coaching youth. It is a great way to give back to your community, make some extra money, and spread the game of rugby to the next generation. Please see below for details on current programs.

Cheers,
Frank
